It’s not just about the Dating Profiles

These days if you mentioned you were using an online dating site to find a partner, the response is more likely to be which one, rather than a surprised ‘really?!’ Your then likely to get a number of stories from friends saying they have friends and colleagues they know who have met their partners online and weddings they have been to as a result. Online dating is part of what we do these days, long gone is the perception that using an online dating site to find a partner is just for geeks.

If you Google online dating you get 149 million results. For online dating sites you get 51.6million results. How do you decide which one you want to join? You won’t have time to look through them all, and what works for one friend may not work for you. It does depend though on what you are looking for. There are a number of sites that are designed to show profile after profile to search through, but is this all that you want? There are also sites that offer more than just profiles, enabling you to enjoy your dating journey, letting the community help you along the way.

Friends Reunited Dating has thousands of online profiles, complete with free text and pictures, but the site offers much more than that. The premise is the same as for all the dating sites: complete your profile, upload a photo, run a search for member matches, contact them, arrange a date when you find a suitable contact. And if it doesn’t work face to face, re run your search and start again. Friends Reunited Dating is a site for all types of daters – the beginners to the advanced, and offers different features to help everyone on their journey to find love.

A hidden, but invaluable tool, especially for beginners is the Dater’s Diary section of the site. This is a great community area, where you can ask questions to other members about dating online, from the ‘how to’; to the ‘what do I do next’? Or you can use it to have dating terminology explained, or for advise on something as troubling about what to wear or say on a first date. You don’t even have to ask questions – the dater’s diary area can be just that – an area where you can write your own diary. In the online world it can be called a blog, but what you are doing is writing about your dating experience. It can be as descriptive as you like, and as often as you like and it’s personal to you. Within it you can ask questions or ask for others’ advice. When you do find your partner it’s a good record of your dating journey and will have detail in it that you will probably have naturally forgotten. If you want to write your own diary, or contribute to the section by commenting on others’ diaries, go to the section on the site and see what others’ have been writing about. The most important thing is to enjoy your dating experience and if you can share the journey with others they can help and support you along the way.

Once your journey has begun, and you have spent time on your profile, talking to people, meeting other members face to face and eventually seriously dating another member, the time will come to tell us about your story. The site has a comprehensive Success Stories area which highlights members who have been on the site and then written in and told us about their success. If ever you are feeling disheartened about your journey, click through these success story pages and read about the journey’s of others. They will say how it wasn’t all plain sailing and how they had to kiss many a frog before they found their prince, but what the stories do show is that it can happen. And you will meet your match.
