Five reasons why Online Dating is the best way to find a date
There are many different routes you can take to find a date, but the most convenient, easiest and relaxing way to find your partner is to go online. Here are five compelling reasons as to why:
Insight into people’s personality from their profile
By reading the profiles of member’s online you can build up a picture as to what type of person they are like. If they haven’t completed any section of their profile but the basics, e.g. site name, age, location (the bits they completed on registration) you need to ask yourself if this person is really serious about finding a date? If they haven’t been bothered to complete their profile, even half of it, are they lazy? Conversely, a full profile not only shows the member is serious about finding a partner, but gives you a real insight into what they are like – descriptive, creative, full of life and if they have photos on their profile too, you get a visual view of your potential date. It’s easier to find something in a full profile to write to the member about – so take your time, read profiles and have a think about the personality of the person through their profile – especially by what they have written in the free text area.
Write, rewrite and change again what you say about yourself
When you meet someone face to face, subconsciously you will have made a decision as to whether you like them within the first few minutes of meeting. You effectively only get one chance to show off your best side. Online you can change your profile, keep it updated, get a friends opinion on it, and make sure your best side is visible 24 hours a day. By giving yourself the opportunity to present yourself at your best all of the time, you are more likely to receive contacts from other members. Then you can chat to someone for hours, weeks or months before you meet face to face, and by building a rapport online, you’ll ensure that when you do meet you’ll like each other.
Play about with age, location etc in search results
You probably have a certain type of person you are looking for and have set your search criteria to look for that particular match. This could include even the finer details of hair and eye colour. You probably also, only want to meet someone that lives within 20 miles of your location, and within a certain age bracket. Did you know that most people are prepared to travel 50 miles to find a date, and if you meet half way that could be no more than a 30 minute journey to each other. Next time you run a search and browse through the profiles, alter your search parameters: adjust your distance to 50 miles and widen your age bracket by two years either side – then run a search and see who you get! You can’t do that in a pub after you’ve met a date can you?!
Speak to people at anytime of the day
In an age when the world doesn’t sleep – literally – online dating allows you to find a date 24 hours a day, seven days a week. When you lead a busy life, looking for a date in the traditional offline way can mean that actually getting a date can be difficult. With online dating you can browse profiles at 3am, send messages to prospective daters, and even talk to someone live at any time of the day or night. When you have built a rapport online with them and decide to meet, when it’s convenient for you both, you know you won’t have wasted your time!
Plagiarise other members profiles
Most people find it difficult to know what to write about in the free text areas of their profile, and it’s difficult to do yourself justice, especially if you are shy. If you were to meet someone in a pub and talk for the first time you would have to think about what to say and wouldn’t have the opportunity to lean on others’ words. With online dating, you can browse other people’s profiles that are of a similar age to you and see how they present themselves online. You can get some ideas as what to say, what topics to discuss and how to show yourself off in your profile in the best way. Don’t lift words from others’ profiles as you need to write about you in your own words, but it can be helpful for tips on what to say. You can also ask your friends to describe you in three words and add that to your profile – this gives a potential date an insight into you from a friend’s point of view.
